The 5.11 Apex Trousers are a next-generation cargo trouser designed to look as at home in plain clothes as on patrol. Flex-Tac mechanical stretch canvas gives a clean, structured appearance with the durability of a heavier cloth, yet flexes with the wearer through gusseted construction and articulated knees. The comfort waistband stretches to accommodate an inside-the-waistband holster or a full meal without pinching, and a durable water repellent finish keeps the fabric looking sharp.

Storage is where the Apex stands apart. Low-profile zipped cargo pockets include internal compartments for magazines or a multi-tool, twin utility pockets sit at the back yoke, a flex-cuff pocket is hidden inside the front waistband and a handcuff key pocket is concealed inside the rear waist. The hand pockets are reinforced at the knife-clip area, seven reinforced belt loops support a loaded belt, and YKK zips and bartacking add long-term durability.

About 5.11 Tactical

5.11 Tactical takes its name from the hardest grade on the Yosemite Decimal System, a nod to the 1992 climbing trouser by Royal Robbins that started it all. After the FBI Academy adopted that trouser, the brand was spun out as a stand-alone company in 2003 and now operates from California with a global footprint. Its Apex and Stryke ranges built on the introduction of Flex-Tac, the stretch fabric that changed how tactical trousers fit and move.

Sizing Instructions

How to Measure
Use your chest, neck, and arm length to find the right size for tops and outerwear. Use your waist measurement — where you actually wear your trousers — for bottoms and belts.

Neck
Measure around the base of your neck, where a collar would sit.

Chest
Measure under your arms and around the fullest part of your chest, keeping the tape parallel to the floor.

Arm Length
Slightly bend your elbow. Measure from the center back of your neck, over the top of your shoulder, and down to your wrist.

Pant Waist
Measure around your natural waistline — where your trousers actually sit, not necessarily your narrowest point.

Hip
Stand with your feet together and measure around the fullest part of your hips, keeping the tape parallel to the floor.

Inseam
Measure from the crotch straight down the inside of the leg to your ankle, or to your preferred trouser length.
