5.11 are continually improving their selection of tactical gear with every new product. Focusing on their consumers feedback they are able to improve the performance, look, feel and durability of every release. The latest to come out of the new 5.11 range is the Capital Trouser and the Icon Trouser both new editions are an improvement on their parents the Apex and Stryke but how do they compare to each other?
The Capital Trouser
Following on from the Apex trouser, we have the new Capital Trouser, based on the original design the trouser still features 11 tactical pockets however the trouser is far more discreet. The pockets have been designed to follow the natural contours of the body so that they provide a seamless silhouette. This trouser might be low visibility but they still pack a punch, made from Flex-Tac canvas and Teflon these are perfect for providing increased flexibility and stain resistance.

The Icon Trouser
A cheaper alternative to the Capital Trouser is the other newest trouser in the collection; The Icon. A nod to its parent the Stryke Trouser, these have an improved slimmer/tailored fit with a comfort waistband construction. Still providing 12 tactical pockets, these cargo trousers are reinforced with mega-strong nylon 6 fabric, they also have a diamond gusset and knee articulation for freedom of movement. These also feature the famous rip-stop fabric for proven durability and toughness.

Both trousers with no doubt have been designed with the end-user at the front of their mind – They both offer a tough material which is lightweight, stain-resistant and offers mechanical stretch for ease of movement. Both have similar reinforced pocket space, comfort waistband, and knee articulation and they also offer the technicality approach that meets the needs of its user. So, does it just come down to style?
