Bit Kits & Drivers

A bit kit is the single most useful upgrade for a multi-tool. Leatherman's double-ended flat bits fit the bit driver on the Wave+, Charge+, Surge, Signal, Skeletool and MUT, and the bit driver extender adds reach and a 6.35 mm (1/4 in) socket for standard hex bits. Gerber's hex-driver tools take standard bits straight from any set.

Leatherman bit kits

Leatherman's proprietary flat bits are double-ended and stack flat, so a full set takes up a fraction of the space of conventional hex bits. The 42-piece bit kit covers Phillips, flat, Torx, hex and square-drive sizes in two bit holders, and the smaller 21-piece and bit-set options cover the most common fixings. Every bit is made from hardened steel to resist rounding and is designed to be used with the tool's built-in bit driver or the extender.

Bit driver extender

The Leatherman bit driver extender clips into a multi-tool's bit driver and extends it by roughly 8 cm (3.25 in), reaching fixings a multi-tool cannot, and its 6.35 mm (1/4 in) hex socket accepts standard bits from any set. It also fits into a standard drill chuck, so the flat bits can be used with a power tool.

Gerber and standard hex bits

Gerber tools with a bit driver, including the Center-Drive and Truss, use standard 6.35 mm (1/4 in) hex bits, and the Gerber bit set is a compact way to carry them. Any standard hex bit from a trade set will also fit.

Compatibility

Product pages list the multi-tools each bit kit or driver fits. Leatherman flat bits are compatible only with Leatherman tools that have a bit driver; tools with a fixed screwdriver, such as the Rebar and Micra, do not accept bits.
