About 5.11 Tactical

5.11 Tactical grew out of a single pair of trousers. In the early 1990s climber Royal Robbins designed the original 5.11 pant, named after the hardest grade on the Yosemite climbing scale, and it was soon adopted by the FBI Academy. The brand became a stand-alone company in 2003 and now designs apparel, footwear and equipment from its California headquarters for law enforcement, military, emergency services and outdoor users worldwide.

Sizing Instructions

How to Measure
Use your chest, neck, and arm length to find the right size for tops and outerwear. Use your waist measurement — where you actually wear your trousers — for bottoms and belts.

Neck
Measure around the base of your neck, where a collar would sit.

Chest
Measure under your arms and around the fullest part of your chest, keeping the tape parallel to the floor.

Arm Length
Slightly bend your elbow. Measure from the center back of your neck, over the top of your shoulder, and down to your wrist.

Pant Waist
Measure around your natural waistline — where your trousers actually sit, not necessarily your narrowest point.

Hip
Stand with your feet together and measure around the fullest part of your hips, keeping the tape parallel to the floor.

Inseam
Measure from the crotch straight down the inside of the leg to your ankle, or to your preferred trouser length.
